Notable Moments from SEC Media Days

From what I gathered, nothing too surprising came out of SEC media days last week in Birmingham. LSU was picked to win it all, McFadden was a unanimous choice for All-SEC, and Saban arrived with the fanfare that would've made Elvis jealous. It's interesting to note that all the covers on each team's media guide included pictures of their players, except 1. That's right, Saban was pictured on the cover of UA's media guide walking as if water was beneath him. I wonder how many losses will he have to endure to fall from the graces of sainthood. As far as other coaches, Spurrier was as quotable as ever, "I thought we'd beaten a good team in Clemson, then Kentucky beat them in their bowl game." Hmmm...when is that S. Carolina/Kentucky game this year?

I suppose LSU as the appointed favorite should be leery of falling to history as another preseason favorite not to win the SEC. If so, who'd be their likely replacement? Each division has their contenders. If we were to look at the preseason All-SEC teams, Arkansas could make a case with 5 players elected to the 1st team. Too bad there's a mutiny waiting for Coach Nutt should his team have an unexpected loss, i.e. 9/22 vs. Kentucky.

Speaking of the All-SEC predictions, it's interesting to note the omissions as well. Cole Bennett was 1st-team All-SEC last year. Yet he seems to be forgotten after missing last year with a broken ankle against LSU. Coach Tuberville would like you to believe his QB was slighted after what he deemed Cox's MVP performance last year, playing with multiple injuries. Where's DJ Hall, Andre Caldwell, or Tristan Davis (KR) ? And for God's sake, how many Colquitts are there in Tennessee? You can pick your most notable omission in my latest poll.

Until Next Time,
WDE!
